Myrtle is an aromatic, Mediterranean shrub, the leaves of which are traditionally used for their antimicrobial properties. The natural myrtle extract used in ELGYDIUM PHYTO is a product of myrtle leaf processing from Morocco, which is rich in active substances. Harvesting is done by hand, according to the ethical principles related to local producers and the preservation of the ecosystem. The leaves are dried locally and transported to Pierre Fabre Laboratories for processing. The natural extract is combined with fluorinol for optimal efficacy against the biofilm, the first stage of dental plaque formation.

CLINICAL RESULTS
During in-vitro studies involving four characteristic dental plaque bacteria (Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus gordonii, Actinomyces naeslundii), the combination of 2% myrtle extract + Fluorinol 1350 ppm could reduce the number of bacteria by 99% in the biofilm (the sticky microbial film that grows on the teeth and is the first stage of dental plaque formation).
