Technological achievements
The SOLUS meter was designed with biosensor technology, which uses the enzyme glucose oxidase to break down blood glucose. The film itself contains 4 leads, whereas most films on the market today only have 3 leads. How does this benefit you? The more leads a glucose test strip contains, the more information and data can be transmitted to the meter. This is important and has advantages in achieving better, more accurate control. Ex: Most talking meters on the market today contain only 3 leads. If you have or have used a talking meter in the past, you rely heavily on the accuracy of the sound output. Unfortunately, most talking meters will give you a FALSE LOW result if you don't have enough blood. SOLUS V2 is so sophisticated that it informs you in audio form “Insufficient Blood, Please Test Again!” (Insufficient blood, repeat the test!). It will NOT lead to a FALSELY LOW result, which reduces the risk of morbidity and mortality.
SOLUS Spin Action
The spinning action is a powerful current that draws blood from the test site and rapidly transports it to the strip. This action leads to faster, more accurate results and reduces the chances of error. The rapid absorption of blood into the test strip provides a huge benefit to any person suffering from neuropathy and can greatly reduce the irritation they may feel from not being able to transfer the proper amount of blood to the test strip.
Control Capabilities
The film was made to get the blood pumping at a very fast pace. When glucose reacts with the reagents in the test strips, an electrical current is produced, which is proportional to the concentration of glucose in the blood sample. The glucose concentration is calculated from the meter and the measured electric current. Upon contact, the strip and meter work together to give you a reading similar to that of blood glucose detected in your plasma.
Size
SOLUS V2 test strips were designed to be large and easy to use. We knew that many patients suffer from diabetic neuropathy and that test strips can be difficult to handle. The longer tape helps to reduce irritation that can be created during the inspection process. The film bottle also has a large spout that makes it easy to access the films.
Ease of Use
Like the large display on the SOLUS V2 meter, the tape is clearly marked so you can see which end should be inserted into the meter and which side is up. These features eliminate confusion when it's time to check out.
