Evening Primrose Oil is one of the few natural sources of a polyunsaturated fatty acid called G-Linoleic Acid (GLA). GLA is the precursor of a particularly important prostaglandin of PGE1, which participates in a variety of important biological functions.

Although the body can produce GLA from Linoleic acid (Omega 6 fatty acid found in vegetable oils), this conversion is several times delayed or even completely inhibited. For this reason, a dietary source of GLA may be useful for the body to circumvent the conversion process, which has been confirmed by several clinical studies that have proven to benefit from taking GLA dietary supplements in specific cases.
