5-HTP (abbreviated as 5-hydroxytryptophan) is the hydroxylated form of the tryptophan amino acid, which is found in high protein foods such as meat and dairy products. The body produces 5-HTP from tryptophan, which is then converted to the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain.

The 5-HTP contained in this product is of natural origin and is specifically derived from the seeds of the African plant Griffonia simplicifolia. Extract from this plant is one of the most widely used supplements in the world 5-HTP and especially popular among US Health Professionals.

Digestion time: Less than 1 hour.
