Rhinosisam (Pharmagel) is a nasal spray of pure sesame oil for pharmaceutical use, enhanced with mastic oil and vitamin E (Medical device for the care of the nasal mucosa)

INGREDIENTS: Pure Sesame Oil for medicinal use, vitamin E, mastic oil.

APPLICATIONS: Rhinosisam is not a medicine. Used for the care and cleanliness of the nasal mucosa in the following cases:

Dryness of the nasal mucosa, such as that caused when a person is exposed to the dry cold of the winter season, during long-term air travel, after prolonged stay in an air-conditioned area (1).
After nasal surgeries (nasal septal scoliosis, rhinoplasty, nasal bone fractures, removal of nasal polyps by endoscopic surgery (FESS) or conventional hemipolypectomy, etc.) with Rhinosisam
Dryness of the nasal mucosa that may accompany Sjögren's syndrome (dry mouth, dry eye, dryness of the nasal mucosa, dryness of the nasopharynx and larynx, etc.),
Chronic dry rhinitis
Clearance of secretions in chronic persistent dysentery vaginitis (sinusitis, frontal vaginitis, ethmoiditis) in combination with drug treatment prescribed by the treating physician.
Dryness of the nasal mucosa in the elderly, the presence of crusts or the presence of intense moisture or runny nose can be relieved by using Rhinosisam.
Dryness of the nasal mucosa of people who have received radiotherapy in the area of the nose and nasopharynx. Therapeutic radiation causes overproduction of mucus in the nasal and paranasal cavities, which then dry out and make nasal breathing difficult.
Difficulty clearing nasal secretions in viral or microbial rhinitis or allergic and non-allergic rhinitis.
After sneezing, which is accompanied by the production of dry or thick secretions.
Prolonged nasal catheter oxygen uptake as well as the use of a CPAP device by people with abnormal snoring and sleep apnea may be accompanied by annoying dryness of the nasal mucosa, which is relieved with Rhinosisam.
Dryness of the nasal mucosa and the production of dry crusts in some people who are being treated with certain acne medications or using nasal corticosteroid sprays.
The use of Rhinosisam can be combined with medicines prescribed for a rhinological problem, such as topical corticosteroids or topical antihistamines or hypertonic saline solution (Osmoclean Hypertonic nasal spray) or nasal decongestants.

PROPERTIES OF RHINOSISAM

Pure pharmaceutical grade sesame oil containing Rhinosisam contains high concentrations of vitamin E, usually around 35mg / kg α-tocopherol and 308mg / kgβ and γ-tocopherol.

The addition of vitamin E to pure sesame oil makes it a powerful antioxidant blend. Vitamin E is known to be an effective antioxidant and can neutralize oxidants such as ozone and nitrogen oxides of inhaled air and prevent tissue damage to the fibrous epithelium and inflammation that would inevitably occur.

The incorporation of tocopherols into the cell membrane of the cells of the nasal mucosa protects them from free radicals and oxidative stress, while at the same time allows the regeneration of the affected areas, which are protected from new irritations.

Pure pharmaceutical grade sesame oil does not contain proteins that can cause allergic reactions (1), as may be the case for some people who are allergic to sesame seeds or commercial non-pure sesame oil (2).

Accidental inhalation of sesame oil from the bronchi is not accompanied by side effects from the lungs, as this can happen with the inhalation of paraffin oil, which is included as an excipient in some nasal ointments. Mineral oil droplets, such as paraffin oil that enter the lungs, settle there and eventually cause fibrosis.

This is not the case with vegetable oils, such as sesame oil, because the latter comes out with the expectoration if inhaled without causing harm. Dryness of the nasal mucosa is treated more effectively with the use of sesame oil, than with the use of sprays of isotonic saline solution (3).

CONTRAINDICATIONS: It is advisable for people who are allergic to sesame seeds to avoid Rhinosisam, although the medicinal use of sesame oil does not cause allergic reactions, as it does not contain proteins.

SIDE EFFECTS: No side effects have been reported from the use of sesame oil for medicinal use and its side effects are very mild and reversible, such as itching and a feeling of fullness in the nose. Tell your doctor if these persist or are bothersome

PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING: Rhinosisam can be used by pregnant and lactating women.

ALLERGIC REACTIONS: Rhinosisam contains pure sesame oil for medicinal use, which does not contain allergenic proteins. However, people who are allergic to sesame should avoid its use, in case of an allergic reaction, the treating physician should be informed.

DOSAGE: One or two sprays in each nostril every 3-6 hours or as many times as needed, depending on the existing need to moisturize and clean the nasal mucosa. The vial is held upright for the duration of the spraying. In order for the Rhinosisam pump to work, it must be pressed 3-4 times before being inserted into the nostril.

DURATION OF USE: Rhinosisam can be safely used continuously for 4 weeks. However, it is good to have short breaks and then repeat its use. Rhinosisam is not a medicine, so if the condition of the nose does not improve or worsens or pain occurs, the treating physician should be informed immediately.

The best results of Rhinosisam are obtained if combined with hypertonic saline solution with neutral pH (Osmoclean nasal spray, Pharmagel)

Rhinosisam is not used in infants and young children.

The vial is always kept closed and kept out of the reach of children.
